Chef
Privacy policy
Effective October 25, 2026
Chef is run by Datacat LLC, doing business as Chef ("we"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Chef at chef.datacat.com, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: hello@datacat.com.
What we collect
- Your account: the name and email address from the Google account you sign in with.
- Your businesses' work: what you and your business's AI agents create in Chef, such as messages, tasks, documents, the agents' notes, and a record of actions taken (the audit log).
- Usage and billing: which AI models the agents used, how much, and what it cost; payments, refunds and credits.
- Payment details: payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe, not to us; we keep Stripe's customer reference and the card's brand and last four digits.
- Secrets you give your agents (API keys, passwords): stored encrypted, and never shown again to anyone, including you and the agents.
- Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, push notification subscriptions if you turn them on, and server logs.
The live view of what an agent is doing is shown as it happens and is not stored.
How we use it
- To run Chef: sign you in, run your business's agents, show you their work, and ask for your approval when they need it.
- To bill you for your agents' AI use, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
- To keep Chef secure and working, and to contact you about your account.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your businesses' content to train AI models.
Google account data
When you sign in with Google, Chef receives only your name, email address and whether the email is verified. We use them only to create and identify your Chef account. We don't request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or other Google data, and we don't share Google account data with anyone except as this policy describes.
Who processes it for us
- Google Cloud, which hosts Chef and its databases in the United States.
- Anthropic, whose AI models your agents use. Agents send them the context a task needs, under terms that do not allow training on it.
- Stripe, for payments.
- Services you connect, such as GitHub or an email account, receive what the agents send them on your behalf.
Some AI work runs on computers Datacat operates itself. We share information beyond this only when the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting it
We keep your information while your account is open. To delete your account or a business, email hello@datacat.com; we delete it within 30 days, except billing and payment records we must keep by law.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each business's secrets are sealed with its own key, protected by Google Cloud Key Management. Access within Chef is limited to what each person and agent needs.
Your choices
You can see and correct most of your information in Chef. You can ask us for a copy, a correction or deletion at hello@datacat.com. Chef is not for people under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we post the new version here with its date, and tell account holders of significant changes.
